In Year 7 we work very hard in the core subjects of Numeracy and Literacy BUT there are also lots of opportunities for fun learning, too. Our WAU topics include: Space, a European Christmas and Life in Victorian Times. We go on educational visits to Armagh Planetarium and The Palace Stables. We also visit KS3 schools and welcome visitors to our classroom.
Our favourite trip of all, however, has to be the residential visit to Edinburgh! Visiting Edinburgh is a wonderful experience for Year 7, even the teachers enjoy themselves. Edinburgh Castle, Butterfly and Insect World and Glasgow Science Museum are just a few of the places we visit. We highly recommend this trip.
During the year, in PDMU, we learn how to organise our learning time in preparation for transfer to KS3. We enjoy the responsibilities of helping the younger children and play a vital role in preparing for school events.
We also spend time in the ICT suite where we use our computer skills to produce powerpoints, brochures and posters.
We love the opportunities we get, as the oldest pupils, to represent the school at sporting and non-sporting events as well as taking on new jobs and roles such as Playground Buddies.
Year 7 is a busy but enjoyable place.
