Dear P4 Parents,
Thank you so much for your support with the Paired Reading Programme so far as we begin Week 2. The children are telling us such lovely things about the stories they are reading and how much they are enjoying spending time with you 1:1. Our own children at home are really enjoying it too but we realise that even a wee 10 min session can be hard to fit into an already tight schedule! However, we can also see the huge benefits of trying to squeeze it in whenever possible.
We also love to hear about the unique signals that are being used to stop/start the paired reading such as a gentle kick, a hug, clicking fingers and the dab, to name but a few!
Please keep going and a wee reminder to fill in the Reading Diary and return to school on Friday so we can discuss how it's all going.

The P4 children are commencing a six week period of Paired Reading (PR) beginning Mon 4th March when their PR Reading Diaries and first choice of books will be sent home.
We enjoyed hosting an evening with Mrs Nicola Vaughan from Donacloney Primary School on 26th February when she explained the rationale behind the programme and the benefits to the children who participate. With World Book Day and the PTA Readathon both taking place this week, it seemed the ideal time to introduce this to Maghaberry Primary School and we hope that the children enjoy spending time with an adult who is familiar with the aims and techniques of the Paired Reading Programme.
Thank you to all who attended the information evening and we hope that you found it beneficial. To those who couldn't join us, please don't worry! The relevant information has been sent home with your children and copies of the notes are included on this page. Please see the information below and feel free to contact the school with any further queries or concerns.
